Cherokee County History Center

Six galleries and more than 10,000 years of local history in downtown Canton, from Native American pottery and the gold rush to the Civil War, moonshining and the old cotton mills. It was designed for kids to learn by touching, so you'll see "Please Touch" signs everywhere. Kids 18 and under get in free, adult admission is small, and parking is free. Plan on about an hour. It's open Tuesday through Saturday (closed Sundays and Mondays).

Indoor Full Swing golf simulators over in Woodstock — just south of Canton on Holly Springs Pkwy — a top rainy-day pick whether or not you golf. Book a private bay, pick a world-famous course, and play a full round no matter what the weather's doing outside. Members get 24/7 access to the bays, but you don't have to join — you can just sign up for a 60-minute golf session or a lesson whenever you want to play.

Sportwall Family Entertainment

Catch live theatre, music, comedy, or a film in a 100-year-old downtown landmark.

A cozy meal & coffee

Hibachi at Hana, Italian at POPS or Campania, or a Downtown Kitchen dinner — then coffee at Bizarre or Stitch. Rainy days were made for lingering.
