Inside Tumi Peruvian: Canton's Upscale Peruvian Dining Gem

Step behind the scenes at Tumi Peruvian in downtown Canton. From authentic flavors to live music, see what makes this upscale spot a local favorite.
A Taste of Peru on East Main Street
When Tumi Peruvian opened its doors in December 2025 on East Main Street, it brought something Canton had never seen before: authentic Peruvian cuisine right in the heart of downtown. The grand opening even featured the Consul of Peru from Atlanta, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to bringing genuine flavors from Peru to Cherokee County.
Located at 190 East Main Street, this beautifully decorated space has quickly become a favorite for date nights and special occasions. The warm lighting, vibrant decor, and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable meal—and the food lives up to every bit of that promise.
The Craft Behind the Flavors
What makes Tumi special starts in the kitchen. The chef is Peruvian-trained, bringing techniques and recipes straight from Peru. That authenticity shows up in every dish, from the citrusy-bright ceviche to the rich, savory lomo saltado—a classic Peruvian stir-fry of beef, tomatoes, and fries that somehow manages to be both comforting and exciting.
Take a look inside and you'll see a kitchen that takes pride in quality ingredients and careful preparation. Reviewers consistently mention dishes like the grilled octopus, which arrives tender and perfectly seasoned, and the Conchas a la Parmesana—scallops served flambéed in a show-stopping presentation. The menu also features Tallarin Saltado de Pollo, Aji de Gallina, Papas a la Huancaina, and Sudado de Pescado, a fish stew with a broth so flavorful it's the kind of meal you'll be thinking about days later.
And don't skip the drinks. The Pisco Sours here are getting rave reviews for tasting just like the real thing—smooth, tangy, and perfectly balanced.
What to Try When You Visit
If you're new to Peruvian food, start with the ceviche. Fresh fish marinated in lime, tossed with onions and cilantro, it's bright and refreshing—a perfect introduction to the cuisine. From there, the lomo saltado is a must-try, balancing savory and tangy flavors with steak, pasta, or rice. And if you're feeling adventurous, the Yuka Frita (fried yucca) with three dipping sauces has locals coming back again and again.
For dessert, try the Picarones—Peruvian doughnuts that are light, sweet, and utterly addictive—or the Alfajores, delicate cookies filled with dulce de leche.
Tumi also features live music on select nights, adding to the vibrant, celebratory atmosphere. With outdoor seating, a full bar, and a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home, it's quickly become one of the top dining experiences in the area. Understanding what your home is worth in a town with growing amenities like this is easier than you might think.
